All About Computer Networks

Over time, computers have become an indispensable part of business. The installation of computers, their support and maintenance are essential services for all organizations. As companies grow, so does the number of computers. It becomes imperative to set up a systematic way to connect these computers so that they work without problems. As a result, computers are interconnected in different ways. This is the concept of a computer network.

What is a computer network?

A computer network can be understood as a number of computers connected together to share resources. The most common shared resource is the Internet. Other resources can be printers, file servers, and so on. Computers on the network can be connected via an Ethernet or wireless cable via radio waves.
We will now see how the individual computers in a network are connected:
Computers connected to a network are called nodes.

Star topology:

In this case, there is a central node from which connections are provided to individual computers. In this case, even if there is a problem with a particular cable, the other computers can continue to operate without being disturbed. On the reverse, this type of connection requires a lot of wiring.

Bus topology:

In this case, all computers are connected by a single cable. The information for the last computer must pass through all the nodes. The main advantage is that it requires a minimum of wiring. However, if there is an abnormality in the cable, all computers are affected.

Ring Topology:

In this topology, all computers are connected via a single cable. The end nodes are also connected to each other. The signal travels over the network to reach the desired recipient. If a network node is configured incorrectly or if there is another problem, the signal will make many attempts to find the desired recipient.

Collapsed ring topology:

In this case, the central node is a network device called a hub, router, or switch. This device works in ring with plugins for cables. In addition, each computer is independently connected to the device via individual cables.

Each organization chooses its own topology of the computer network to ensure streamlined operation of its computers. Once the computers are connected, the desks also have separate cabling closets, which are essentially a space containing a switch that connects to the network.

A number of computer network companies provide installation, maintenance, and support services, ensuring smooth and streamlined operation of your systems.
